Women's Cross Country - Sat, Oct. 1, 2016

The LSUS Cross Country competed at the East Texas Baptist University Meet in Marshall, Texas. Over 20 schools participated in the meet including 17 teams in the D-III classification. The course was a 2 kilometer loop which the women ran 3 times (6k) and the men ran 4 times (8k).

The women's race was the first of the morning. Sarah Haines (SO/Shreveport, Louisiana) led the LSUS Women's team, running 31:01 on the 3.74 mile course and place 46th overall. Kate Inchun (SR/Houston, Texas) finished second for the Lady Pilots, running 34:01 and coming in 50th place. Kayleigh Newman (JR/Bossier City, Louisiana) and Jaleah Turner (JR/Monroe, Louisiana) both made their debut for the season, running 35:59 for 52nd place and 36:31 for 53rd place. Anne Puckett (FR/Shreveport, Louisiana) finished out the top 5 for LSUS running 41:46 and placing 54th. The team finished 9th in the meet in the D-III division.

Coach Rabo was very excited about the results of the meet. "We got a bit of a late start to the year so we have been keeping mileage up and training through meets. This generally means the runners are going to be a little tired and be racing on sore legs. However, if they were tired from this week's workouts it didn't show today. Every runner ran their fastest pace of the year today and we still have another month until the conference meet. I'm excited to see what they will be capable of with another month of training."

The Pilot Cross Country teams will next be competing in the Watson Ford Invitational at Mississippi College on October 7th in Clinton, MS.
