Men's Cross Country - Fri, Oct. 7, 2016

LSUS Cross Country traveled to the Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi to compete at the Watson Ford Invitational hosted by Mississippi College. Over 30 schools participated in the meet including 21 non-division 1 teams. It was a warm evening on the hilly course that culminated in a quarter-mile uphill finish. Despite the difficult conditions, the Pilots ran well.

In the men's race, Ben Haines (FR/Shreveport, Louisiana) once again led the Pilots against a strong field over the 5 mile course with a finishing time of 32:08 which was good for 47th place. Next came Angel Marroquin with a time of 34:22 placing 52th. Solomon Layton (FR/Shreveport, Louisiana) finished in 34:43 for 53th followed by Judd Young (JR/Alexandria, Louisiana) in 37:54 for 57th. Simon Moradel (SO/Bossier City, Louisiana) finished out the scoring five, running 38:09 for 58rd. Donald Holland (SR/Bossier City, La.) (40:09) and Duncan Phelps (SO/Shreveport, Louisiana) (44:00) finished out the top seven for the men's team. The Pilots finished 9th in the non-D1 division.

The season is almost over for cross country teams. They will be competing in the RRAC Conference Meet in Windcrest, Texas on November 4th.
