SHREVEPORT, La. – LSUS Athletic Director, Lucas Morgan, has announced Phillip Bohn as the next men's head soccer coach. Bohn comes to Shreveport after spending the past three seasons as the head coach at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. Bohn also had previous head coaching stops at Jamestown University (Jamestown, N.D.), Central Baptist College (Conway, Ark.) and Wesleyan College (Macon, Ga.).

"We knew immediately that Phillip was the right person to lead our men's soccer program. His enthusiasm for soccer and the student-athlete were at the forefront of every discussion. His success as a head coach is something that jumped out to the search committee, but his ability to raise GPAs at every school is something even more impressive. We look forward to welcoming Phillip to the Pilot Family and are excited to see where he will take us," stated Morgan.

"It's an honor to be given the opportunity to start the men's soccer program at LSU Shreveport," said Coach Bohn. "I want to thank Chancellor Larry Clark and Athletic Director Lucas Morgan for believing in me and providing me this opportunity. I also want to thank Kansas Wesleyan, my student athletes, host families, alumni, and everyone in Salina for all the support."

In July 2014, Bohn became the head coach at Kansas Wesleyan University and his teams experienced immediate success. During that time, he compiled an overall record of 37-18-5, but probably the most impressive thing was that as the teams remained successful on the pitch, the Grade Point Average improved each year proving that academics are extremely important to Coach Bohn's program.

Bohn also saw great success at Jamestown and in his final year they set the school record for wins (16), a no. 16 NAIA National Ranking, and they qualified for the NAIA National Tournament. He finished his time at Jamestown with three straight winning seasons. However, the accomplishment he is most proud of was the team's improvement in the classroom as their overall GPA climbed from 2.0 to 3.16 under his guidance.

Coach Bohn and the Pilots will take the pitch this fall and compete in the Red River Athletic Conference. "I am excited to get to know the soccer community in Shreveport and help put LSUS men's soccer on the map," said Coach Bohn. "I am ready to put together a special group of young men to represent LSUS with class and win at a very high level. I suspect LSUS will be a force in the RRAC and NAIA sooner than most might expect."
