SHREVEPORT, La. - With about three minutes to play, the LSU-Shreveport Pilots had the LSU-Alexandria Generals, the NAIA's No. 1 ranked team, right where they wanted them.
The score was tied and the Pilots had the ball. But as teams of destiny always seem to do, the Generals found a will and a way and pulled out a 75-66 win in front of a full house Wednesday at The Dock.
LSU-Alexandria (22-0, 12-0 RRAC) placed four players in double figures to remain atop the Red River Athletic Conference standings by stopping No. 17 LSUS (15-6, 8-4 RRAC).
When the Pilots' Benjamin Batts (JR/Saginaw, Michigan) canned his fourth 3-pointer of the night to put his team in front 66-63 with about 4 minutes remaining, it seemed the Pilots might pull off the upset. But Jordin Williams responded with a trey of his own to knot the game and Evan Smith gave the visitors the lead for good with a layup at the 2:12 mark.
