SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU Shreveport men's basketball team outnumbered the visiting Paul Quinn Tigers on Saturday night with a 97-67 win in a non-conference game at The Dock. LSUS improves to 16-6 while Paul Quinn falls to 4-21.

"I thought we played with a lot of energy and effort on the defensive end tonight," said LSUS coach Kyle Blankenship whose team played a total of 11 players while the visitors only got in seven.

Benjamin Batts (JR/Saginaw, Michigan) found his groove early on and later cooled off a 7-0 run by the Tigers who nearly brought the game to within single digits in the second half. "BJ continued to shoot the ball at a very high level," added Blankenship of his guard who had the game high of 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting which included 6-of-12 from downtown.

Batts was not the only Pilot to get comfortable from beyond the arc as C. J. McGill (JR/Tampa, Florida) drained 4-of-8 attempts and finished with 18 points. "C. J. got back on track tonight which helped us put them away," said Blankenship of his guard that had just eight points in Wednesday's loss to no. 1 LSUA.

Tyrell Springer (SR/Springfield, Massachusetts) led the Pilots with seven assists and four steals while Greg Pollins (SR/Texarkana, Texas) (10) was the only other Pilot to net double digits.

The Pilots must be ready for a pair of tough road games next week as there are no easy away games in the RRAC. "We have a huge East Texas road swing next weekend," noted Blankenship. "We will take a couple of days off and then prepare for this final stretch run."

The stretch run will consist of road games at Jarvis and Wiley, then a pair of home games (Texas College and St. Thomas) and end with a tough slate at Huston-Tillotson and Our Lady of the Lake. The Pilots are currently in 4th place in the RRAC standings, a half-game behind OLLU for the 3rd place.
