Dallas, Tex. - After a rough first day of the Dallas Christian Invitational, the Pilots responded with two well played games winning 9-4 against Southwestern Christian and 13-3 against host Dallas Christian.  In both games, the Pilots jumped out to early leads and did not look back behind solid offensive and pitching performances.  David Salgueiro (JR/Miami, Florida) was the star of the day, finishing 8-for-9 at the plate with 7 stolen bases.

"David is a special player," said LSUS coach Brent Lavallee.  "His instincts for the game are special.  I think David came here because we were going to let him play the way he plays.  We are finally seeing that pay off."

GAME 1 (W, 9-4)
Behind three solid innings from starter Corley Huffstickler (JR/Frisco, Texas), who earned his first win of the season, the Pilots were able to jump out to a 9-1 lead after three full innings.  The game really opened up as the Pilots scored six runs on three hits in the second inning.

Kevin VanAsselberg (JR/Alexandria, Louisiana) led off the inning with a walk and then advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Frankie Rodriguez who ended up on second due to an error that also allowed VanAsselberg to reach third.

Salgueiro, who broke the school record of 4 stolen bases in a game with 6, brought VanAsselberg home on a single to left center field.  Following a walk to Ryan Pouwells (JR/Surrey, British Columbia), Vaughn Shapen (SR/Shreveport, Louisiana) cleared the bases with a three run triple to extend the LSUS lead to 6-0.

The Pilots, needed a strong performance out of their bullpen to finish the game off.  They got one as Landon Lewis (JR/Bossier City, Louisiana) threw the last three innings to close game one of the day out with Pilots wining by a final score of 9-4.

GAME 2 (W, 13-3)
In game two of the day, the Pilots jumped out to an early 13-0 lead after four innings due in large part to four more hits by Salgueiro, and a strong pitching performance from Cade Gibson (FR/Ruston, Louisiana) who was making his first collegiate start and earned the win.

"Cade is a special kid," said Coach Lavallee.  "He didn't have his best stuff today and didn't pitch in the best circumstances possible but he competed and looked very poised on the mound."  The Pilots would use multiple pitchers out of the bullpen to close out the game which would eventually end due to a power outage at the field.

After being asked how he felt about the Pilots responding to two tough losses on Friday with two wins on Saturday, Coach Lavallee said "The players committed themselves to taking the games one at a time.  We played very confident today."
