SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — J. P. Kimbrough and Jared Rascoe did not finish as high as they would have hoped after taking the lead following the Day 1 weigh in but they did qualify for the National Championship as they finished in 12th spot in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Wild Card Regional presented by Bass Pro Shops on Lay Lake. The dynamic duo hauled in a total of 15 fish for a total weight of 33 pounds and 15 ounces.

The other boat from LSUS finished just outside the top half of the tournament field of a total of 122 boats as Jeff Ramsey and Riley Bornaman caught seven fish weighing in at 14 pounds and seven ounces.

Kimbrough and Rasco took home the Bass Pro Shops Nitro Big Bag of the event because of their 17-1 weight on Day 1, which gave them the early lead. The two will go for the national title at the 2017 Carhartt Bassmaster College National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops at Lake Bemidjii in Bemidjii, Minnesota (August 10 - 12, 2017).
