SHREVEPORT, La. – It's been five years since soccer has been a sport supported by Intercollegiate Athletics. Today that all changed as the wait finally ended when the women's soccer team held their first practice this morning.

"It's been an exciting anticipation," said Coach Holland who begins her first year as a head coach. "It was great to finally get the girls out on the field and show what they can do and work as a team. I look forward to watching the girls' progress as the season continues on. I am very excited for this group of girls to be a part of this historic process."

Coach Holland did not have much time to put this team together but had 18 report for their first practice. The roster consist of some local talent while stemming over to Texas and even Arizona as well as one international player.

The open the 2017 schedule with a scrimmage in on August 11 before beginning the regular season slate the following week.
