LITTLE ROCK, Ark.Murray Cockburn (JR/Edinburgh, Scotland) netted the hat trick as the LSU Shreveport Pilots men's soccer team eased their way to a 6-0 win over the Central Baptist Mustangs to begin the 2017 season.

NOTES
•LSUS improves to 1-0 on the season while Central Baptist falls to 0-1.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•Cockburn collected his trio of goals during the game's first 7 minutes and 5 seconds to give the Pilots a commanding lead. He also led all shooters in shots (5) and shots on goal (4).

David Martinez (SR/Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) scored a goal in his only shot of the contest while collecting two assists for the game high.

Daniel Meza (JR/Fontana, California) scored a goal in his two total shots while Zac Gunaratnam-Bailey (FR/Oxford, England) scored the other goal for the Pilots.

Usama Saeed (JR/Ereatra, East Africa) led the bench with three total shots while Niall Cheshire (FR/Eastbourne, England) had 2 shots, 1 being on-goal.

Yoran Van Houdt (FR/Mol, Belguim) played all 90 minutes in goal as he saved all three shots that found their way between the posts for his first shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•LSUS scored early and often as Cockburn netted his first goal of the contest just 39 seconds into the game off of Alvaro Torres (JR/Cali, Colombia)' pass.

•Cockburn scored his second goal of the evening unassisted 6:50 into the first half. 15 seconds later he added his third and final goal of the night with Martinez getting the credit with the assist to give the Pilots a 3-0 advantage.

•Meza finished a pass from Martinez for the Pilots fourth goal of the contest during the 24th minute.

•Martinez got in on the scoring frenzy with an unassisted goal during the 54th minute to extend the LSUS lead to 5-0.

•Gunaratnam-Bailey netted the final goal of the evening as Meza was given the assist.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
•LSUS took a total of 16 shots, nine on net while Central Baptist tallied six shots and three on-goal. The Pilots outshot the Mustangs 11-3 in the first half.

•The Pilots took a total of six corner kicks while all four of Central Baptist's came in the first half.

•Both teams collected three saves each.
