SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU Shreveport men's soccer team defended their home field on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over the visiting Doane Tigers at The Swamp in the first ever meeting between the two schools on the pitch.

NOTES
• The Pilots improve to 5-1 on the season while the Tigers slip to 1-5.

FROM THE COACH
"It was great to finally play at home," said LSUS Head Coach Phillip Bohn. "Although we didn't play perfect we dealt with the pressure of our first home game and expectations that come with it. We did well to control the game and get our fifth clean sheet. We also created a ton of chances. I'd like to see us be a bit better at finishing chances, but we have to be excited about how many chances we created. We have one more non-conference game and expect to use this week to continue to improve as we enter conference play. We are all so thankful to everyone that helped make today possible and for those that came out to support us and check out the team."

TOP PERFORMERS
Robbie Bruce (FR/Cullen, Scotland) led the Pilots with four shots including two on-goal and scored a goal, his first of the year, on a penalty kick.

Murray Cockburn (JR/Edinburgh, Scotland) created plenty of opportunities for the Pilots but couldn't get the ball to bounce his way. He did add three shots, two on-goal as did his teammate Carlos Martinez (JR/Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela).

Jevanni Hinkson (FR/Trinidad, Trinidad & Tobago) netted his first goal of the season just two minutes into the contest and had a total of two shots in the game.

Daniel Meza (JR/Fontana, California) scored his 4th goal of the season on his only shot of the game.

David Martinez (SR/Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) had the only two assists of the contest and also took two shots of his own, two being one being on goal as did Zac Gunaratnam-Bailey (FR/Oxford, England).

• Six other Pilots all took one shot in the contest: Alvaro Torres (JR/Cali, Colombia), Johannes Noothoven Van Goor (FR/Arnhem, Netherlands), Lucas Las Casas (SO/Belo Horizonte, Brazil), Shaquille Mcletchie (JR/Tobago, Trinidad & Tobago), Andres Carrasquilla (SO/Bogota, California) and Owen Richardson (FR/Edinburgh, Scotland).

Yoran Van Houdt (FR/Mol, Belguim) picked up his 5th shutout of the season as he collected one save in the process.

HOW IT HAPPENDED
• The Pilots got on the board early just two minutes into the contest when Jevanni Hinkson finished a pass from David Martinez.

• LSUS led at the half 1-0 but scored again in the second half during the 61st minute when Robbie Bruce scored on the game's only penalty kick to extend the LSUS lead to 2-0.

• The final goal of the game was the icing on the cake as Daniel Meza ripped it past the new Doane keeper and again David Martinez provided the assist during the 81st minute.
