Lucas Morgan begins his first season as the Athletic Director at LSUS in July of 2016 after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Services at William Jewell College (Liberty, MIssouri).

“We are extremely excited to welcome Mr. Morgan to LSUS.  From his many NAIA experiences, Mr. Morgan understands the role and importance of the student-athlete,” said LSUS Chancellor Larry Clark. “His leadership style will set a great example for our coaches and student athletes. I expect that his enthusiasm will be contagious in our efforts to build stronger support for our LSUS Pilots teams and athletes.”

Morgan started playing basketball at Dodge City Community College and Newman University, later going on to earn his B.A. in education in exercise science from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. He then earned a master of science in physical education/exercise and sports science, specializing in athletics and sports business administration, from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Morgan was first hired as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri in 2012.  He was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics a couple years later where he was also responsible for managing coaches of the baseball, swimming and golf teams, the NCAA compliance department, athletics financial aid budget for 20 programs, and corporate partnership program.

As a health fitness specialist at MediFit Corporate Services in Kansas City, Missouri, Morgan increased overall fitness center membership and attendance numbers within group exercise programs and developed and implemented marketing and promotional items for the fitness center.

“I want to thank Chancellor Clark, the search committee, and the coaching staff for selecting me as the next Director of Athletics at LSUS. My family and I are excited to be joining the Pilot family and look forward to building relationships with the campus community, our alumni, and the Shreveport/Bossier community,” said Morgan.

Morgan is eager to begin his work in continuing the excellence of the LSUS athletics teams and creating memorable relationships with the hard-working and dedicated faculty and staff.

“Our goals will be to prepare our graduating student-athletes to flourish in their careers, continue to grow the LSUS athletics brand, and win championships. This is a special place and I look forward to celebrating the success of our student-athletes, coaches, and University,” said Morgan, who will assumed his role at LSUS on August 1.

Morgan is married to Savoeun Morgan and they have three children: Nash Morgan, Amaya Douglas and Alexis Douglas.
