Dr. Terry G. Harris has served as Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for LSUS since being appointed to the position in 1993. Although one of his primary responsibilities as FAR is the eligibility certification of all student athletes, he has also been actively involved with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by serving on various coaching selection committees. For many years Dr. Harris has been involved with the NAIA national office. Since 2009 he has been a member of the NAIA Competitive Experience Committee.
Dr. Harris has been a member of the Department of English since 1988, and he currently serves as Chair of the Department of English and Foreign Languages. He has also served on various university and college committees as well as in various capacities such as the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and the Faculty Senate.
He takes great pride in the accomplishments of our student athletes both on and off the playing field, and he takes great pleasure in compiling the conference honor roll list of student athletes who have excelled in the classroom in addition to their athletic performance. He supports our athletes by attending as many events as he can in every sport. An athlete himself, Dr. Harris has completed the Boston Marathon 20 times as well as a dozen other marathons, including winning his division in the Deseret News Marathon and the St. George Marathon in his home state of Utah. In 2002 he was honored by being selected as a torch bearer for the Olympic Torch Relay leading up to the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
