No. 2 Pilots Use Offensive Rally to Complete The Sweep of Jarvis Christian
Shreveport, Louisiana--- The Pilots secured the sweep over the Bulldogs of Jarvis Christian Sunday afternoon as they collected the final two wins of the weekend. The Pilots took game one of the double header 13-0 followed by a 20-0 win in game two. With the wins the Pilots improved to an overall record of 34-6 and a conference record of 21-3.
The Pilots used two three run innings in the first and third and a seven run fifth inning to lift themselves to a victory in game one of the day. Ryan Major doubled in the first to bring the first run of the game in before scoring himself in the same inning. Vantrel Reed scored Miguel Vega for the third run of the inning before the Pilots would return to the field. Reed again used a sacrifice fly in the third to bring home Vega again before Ryan Davenport sent a single to center scoring Carlos Pineyro and Aj Fritz. The Pilots scored seven more runs in the fifth inning including a three-run shot from Diego Aragon.
Cameron Prayer got the start for the Pilots and went the full seven innings of game one giving up two hits and one walk whilst compiling ten strikeouts.
The Pilots continued their offensive barrage in game three as they again scored early in the first putting up two runs. Vega scored Major to open the onslaught before scoring to close the first inning. The Pilots added one more run in the second inning as Major brought Zeke Maldonado in to raise the score to 3-0. The Bulldogs held the Pilots to scoreless innings in the third and fourth, but the fifth inning was a different story. The Pilots amassed a whopping twelve runs in the fifth inning to go up 15-0 including triples from Major, Vega, and Christian Webb and a two-run inside the park knock from Josh Gibson. The Pilots collected five more runs in the sixth inning as Eric Worden hit a solo shot off the top of the right field fence followed by a grand slam from Anderson Acinger.
The Pilots bullpen was put to good use in game three as the Pilots utilized five arms. Thomas King started on the mound pitching a full four innings and drew ten strikeouts and scattered two hits. Draven Zeigler took over in the fifth striking out two before Gage Bihm took over for the sixth. Trey Rugg and Blaine Hardy closed out the seventh as Hardy collected one strikeout of his own.
The Pilots will be back in action Tuesday April 18th as they take on Louisiana Christian in a midweek, non-conference matchup. First pitch is set for 6:00pm CT from Pineville, Louisiana.
