No. 2 Pilots Take Down Wildcats in Midweek Match Up

Pineville, Louisiana--- The Pilots of Shreveport continue to navigate their way to victory as they secured a midweek victory over the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian, 7-6. With the win the Pilots improve to an overall record of 35-6.

The Pilots struck early in the first inning as AJ Fritz pounded a double to score both Ryan Major and Miguel Vega. Trevor Burkhart brought a third run across in the second as he smacked a sacrifice fly bringing in Kade Shannon. The Wildcats put a hard stop to the Pilots scoring from the third inning through the fifth as they put up an offensive push. They scored three runs in the fourth to bring the game level once more. 

The Pilots and Wildcats battled through the fifth, but the Pilots broke the tie with a single run in the sixth. Josh Gibson scored Vantrel Reed via sacrifice fly bringing the Pilots up 4-3. The lead was short lived however as the Wildcats quickly added the run back in the bottom of the inning, but the Pilots refused the falter. Fritz doubled once more to score Vega again in the top of the seventh before either team could score another run in the ninth. 

The Pilots posted two more runs in the top of the ninth before Vega hit a double to score Burkhart and Eric Worden scored a pinch running Ryan Davenport. The Wildcats attempted to mount an offensive as a final hope, but the Pilots held them to just two runs ending the game 7-6.

Bobby Vath opened the game on the mound for the Pilots going six full innings. He racked up four strikeouts while scattering five hits and allowing four runs. Ryan Isler came in for a third of an inning before Sayer Diederich came in for an inning and two thirds collecting three strikeouts and a hit. Gage Bihm followed with two quick outs before Ryan Sturgeon put the final nail in the coffin with a strikeout of his own. 

The Pilots will be back in action April 21st as they take on the Steers of Texas College in a Friday Double Header. First pitch is set for 1:00pm CT from Pilot Field in Shreveport, Louisiana.
