No. 2 Pilots Baseball Run Rules Freed-Hardeman 15-5
Shreveport, Louisiana--- Pilots baseball continues to rise as they collect their 20th straight win Tuesday afternoon against Freed-Hardeman, 15-5. With the win the Pilots move to an overall record of 39-6 on the season.
The Lions took an early lead over the Pilots as a solo homerun gave them the lead in the top of the first. The Pilots quickly rebounded scoring one in the bottom of the inning to level the playing field again at one before tacking on a second run in the bottom of the second. The Lions weren't done however and used a three run top of the third to again overtake the Pilots once again.
Down 4-2, the Pilots came to life in the bottom of the fourth as Zyon Avery hit a lead off homer over the left field fence to open up the scoring. Ryan Major and Zeke Maldonado came across the player next for the Pilots as Miguel Vega hammered a ball up the middle. Vega was later scored by Vantrel Reed as the last run of the inning. Having reclaimed the lead, the Pilots scored single runs in both the fifth and six innings on lead off home runs. Avery repeated his at bat from the 3rd in the 4th, but took it long off the top of the right field scoreboard before Carlos Pineyro followed with his home run in the sixth. The Lions scored their final run in the sixth inning as a sacrifice fly allowed time for runners to get in.
The Pilots added five more runs in the seventh beginning with a Christian Webb home run, before Burkhart, Vega, Pineyro, and Eric Worden all crashed the plate. The Pilots added their final two runs of the game in the bottom of the eighth, run ruling the lions.
The Pilots pitching staff compiled seven strikeouts in the game as Bobby Vath led the way with five. Just six hits snuck through as the Pilots worked tirelessly to retire the Lions.
The Pilots will be back in action Friday April 28th as they take on the Rams of Huston-Tillotson. First pitch is set for 6:00pm CT from Pilot Field in Shreveport, Louisiana.
