Pilots Sweep Series Over Mustangs
Shreveport, LA - On a perfect Good Friday afternoon, the Pilots were able to sweep the Mustangs bringing their overall record to 28-3 and RRAC record to 19-2.
Game one saw the Pilots in control the majority of the game. In the second inning Josh Gibson got the scoring started with an RBI single that scored Angel Rodriguez. Jayden Morgan followed up with a double scoring both Cooper Huspen and Gibson to make the score 3-0. An unfortunate error by the Pilots would allow the Mustangs to score two in the third and a solo homerun would tie it up in the fourth.
The Pilots offense continued to stay hot however. After loading the bases, Diego Aragon would single to left field scoring Carter LaValley and Ryan Davenport. Morgan would single scoring Keagan Solomon to make it a 6-3 game. The Pilots weren't finished. Vantrel Reed would reach base on an error allowing Trevor Burkhart to score extending the lead to 7-3. The Pilots would plate one more in the sixth on a DJ Walker single that would score AJ Fritz.
The Mustangs weren't going to go away quietly. After loading the bases they would hit a grand slam that would bring them within one, but Josh Fortenberry would strand the next two getting the win for the Pilots 8-7.
Game two saw another dominating performance from the Pilots. A single from Morgan and Brandon Valdez would score two putting LSUS up early. Albert Guzman would drive in Burkart in the second giving LSUS an early 3-0 lead. The Mustangs would plate two in the inning, but the Pilots were ready to pour on some more. A Jose Sallorin single that scored two and a moonshot from Walker would put the Pilots back up 6-2. LSUS would end it in the seventh. After a Mustang pitching change, Sallorin would take the first pitch well over the left field wall for a game breaking grand slam. Solomon would follow that up with an RBI double and Morgan would bounce one off the wall in right field to close the door and finish the sweep. LSUS would win game two by a score of 12-2 in seven.
LSUS will return to action on Tuesday, April 2nd when they head to Waxahachie, Texas to face SAGU at 3pm.
