Pilots Stay Perfect at 7-0 with Thrilling Walk-Off Victory Over IU Southeast, 7-6

On Sunday afternoon, The Louisiana State University Shreveport Pilots walked off the Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers, 7-6.

The Pilots struck the scoreboard first with an RBI single from Angel Rodriguez in the first inning. In the fourth inning, the Grenadiers would go up 2-1 with RBI singles from Preston Shelton and Cole Reynolds. The Pilots grabbed the lead back in the bottom of the fourth after a two run double from Josh Gibson.

In the fifth inning, Jackson Syring extended the lead with an RBI double. The Grenadiers' Logan Murphy drove in a run with a double making it a one run affair. In the bottom sixth, the Pilots answered back with an RBI hit-by-pitch by Rodriguez.

In the ninth inning, down to their final out, Hazel Martinez struck a go-ahead three run double down the right field line, putting the Grenadiers up a run.  Unfazed, the Pilots' Tamden Webb-Tate tied the game with an RBI single. Ryan Davenport sealed LSUS's victory with a walk off single to score Austin Gomm.

Cobe Reeves started the game for the Pilots and pitched four innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, one walk and five strikeouts. On the other side, Gavin Gentry was the first of ten Grenadiers pitchers. He pitched just over three innings, allowing two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out four. Jack Savitch earned his first win for the Pilots while Cade Rusch suffered the loss for IU Southeast.

For LSUS, Gibson recorded two hits and two RBIs, and Davenport had three hits including the walk-off. For Indiana Southeast, Martinez had two hits and three RBIs, Shelton had three hits and an RBI, and Murphy and Reynolds both recorded two hits and an RBI.

The Pilots next games will be at the Cajun Collision in Sterlington, La. on Friday. First game of the weekend is at 2:30 p.m. against Mid-America Christian University.
