LEWISTON, Idaho — LSU Shreveport continued its historic season Thursday night at Harris Field with a resounding 14-4 semifinal victory over Hope International University in Game 17 of the 2025 Avista NAIA Baseball World Series. The win not only sent the undefeated Pilots (58-0) to Friday's national championship game but also cemented their place in college baseball history, setting the all-time consecutive wins record across all levels with their 58th straight victory.
Cobe Reeves (12-0) delivered another strong postseason outing for LSUS, going 5.2 innings while scattering eight hits and allowing four runs (two earned). The left-hander struck out nine and walked three to earn the win. Josh Landry (11-2) took the loss for the Royals (48-10), exiting after 2.2 innings of damage that included six hits, seven runs, and two walks.
The Pilots wasted no time getting on the board. Jose Sallorin's two-RBI single in the second opened the scoring, and LSUS exploded for five more in the third. Ian Montz punched a two-RBI single through the left side, and Diego Aragon and Ryan Davenport added run-scoring at-bats to stretch the lead to 7-1.
Hope International briefly closed the gap in the sixth with a three-run frame that included an RBI single from Amari Bartee and a two-run knock by Kyle Harvey. But the Pilots responded with another offensive burst in the seventh. Aragon and Davenport each drove in two runs with clutch hits to extend the lead to 11-4.
Montz tacked on his third RBI of the night in the eighth, and the Pilots added two more in the ninth on a Josh Gibson groundout and a Royals throwing error. Davenport led the charge with four RBIs, while Montz (3 RBI), Aragon (3 RBI), and Sallorin (2 RBI) provided plenty of backup.
LSUS collected 15 hits on the night and made the most of their scoring opportunities, while the defense turned in a few miscues that didn't end up costing them. Despite a couple of errors, the Pilots' pitching and firepower proved overwhelming.
Now just one win away from a perfect season, the Pilots will have rematch with Southeastern University (Fla.) in the national championship game on Friday, May 30 at 6:30 PM PDT / 8:30 PM CST.
