LSUS Standout Draven Zeigler Signs Professional Contract with Pittsburgh Pirates

SHREVEPORT, La. — LSU Shreveport star pitcher Draven Zeigler is officially headed to the professional ranks, signing a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates after a dominant junior campaign that helped lead the Pilots to an undefeated season and the 2025 NAIA Baseball National Championship.

Zeigler, a junior from Ash Grove, Missouri, was one of the most dominant pitchers in the country in 2025, finishing the year with a 13-0 record, 1.76 ERA, and 107 strikeouts over 87 innings pitched. He made 17 appearances, starting 16 games, while holding opposing hitters to a .192 batting average and registering a WHIP of 0.93. His 11.07 strikeouts per nine innings was among the top marks in the nation.

A key anchor of a historically dominant LSUS pitching staff, Zeigler ranked second in the NAIA in ERA and third in wins, earning a stack of postseason honors that included:

  • First Team NAIA All-American

  • First Team RRAC All-Conference

  • RRAC All-Tournament Team

  • Avista NAIA World Series All-Tournament Team

Zeigler's success on the mound was instrumental to an LSUS team that made history in 2025, finishing 59-0 overall and 30-0 in conference play, winning the RRAC Regular Season and Tournament titles, and capturing the NAIA National Championship after sweeping the winners bracket in Lewiston, Idaho.

As a team, the Pilots rewrote the program and national record books with a 2.38 ERA (best in the nation), .192 opponent batting average, .982 fielding percentage, and 10.55 K/9 as a staff — all national-best or school-best marks. Zeigler's consistency and competitive fire set the tone throughout the season and made him one of the most feared arms in the country.

With his signing, Zeigler becomes the latest LSUS player to join the professional ranks, continuing the program's strong tradition of player development and next-level talent.
