No. 1 LSUS Completes Series Sweep with 7-1 Win Over No. 15 Arizona Christian

SHREVEPORT, La. — No. 1 LSU Shreveport capped off a dominant weekend with a 7-1 victory over No. 15 Arizona Christian University on Saturday morning at Pilot Field, completing the three-game sweep.

With the win, the Pilots improve to 11-2 overall heading into Red River Athletic Conference play.

LSUS used timely hitting and dominant pitching to control the finale. The Pilots scored seven runs on six hits while holding Arizona Christian to just two hits in the contest.

The breakthrough came in the third inning when LSUS pushed across three runs. Quaterrion Walton reached to start the frame, and Carlos Sanchez later delivered an RBI double. Evan Gant followed with an RBI bunt single, and Sanchez came around to score to give the Pilots early momentum.

LSUS added a run in the fifth on a solo home run from Carlos Sanchez, extending the lead to 4-0.

The Pilots continued to apply pressure in the sixth when Makana Olaso scored after working his way aboard and advancing into scoring position.

Arizona Christian managed its lone run in the seventh inning, but LSUS answered immediately in the bottom half. Gant delivered again with an RBI single to center, and later scored to stretch the advantage to 7-1.

On the mound, Brock Lucas was electric. The senior right-hander tossed six hitless innings, striking out 11 while allowing just two walks in a dominant outing. Virot Siharath, Hayden Nichols, and Robert Lastra combined to finish the final three innings and secure the victory.

LSUS now turns its focus to conference play. The Pilots will open Red River Athletic Conference action on February 20 when they welcome Xavier University of Louisiana to Pilot Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
