LSU Shreveport Rolls Past Texas Wesleyan, 20-2, in Road Rout

FORT WORTH, Texas — LSU Shreveport baseball delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday afternoon, overwhelming Texas Wesleyan, 20-2, in midweek action at Sycamore Park. The Pilots improve to 26-3 overall, while the Rams fall to 23-5.

LSUS wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for five runs in the opening frame behind early extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning. The Pilots capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting throughout the game, finishing with 18 hits and 20 runs while not committing an error.

Carlos Sanchez led the offensive onslaught with a monster day at the plate, going 6-for-6 with four runs scored and four RBI, including a triple and a home run. Dorien Jackson also had a standout performance, collecting six hits and driving in a run, while Makana Olaso added three hits and three RBI.

The Pilots continued to apply pressure inning after inning, scoring in six different frames. A decisive seventh inning saw LSUS break the game wide open, plating 10 runs to put the contest firmly out of reach.

On the mound, Jacobo Gallegos earned the win after tossing four innings, allowing just two runs while striking out eight. The bullpen trio of Joan Roman and Evan Gant combined to shut down the Rams over the final three innings, surrendering no runs and limiting Texas Wesleyan to just six hits overall.

Texas Wesleyan showed early fight, plating single runs in both the first and second innings and collecting six hits in the contest. Brendan Vela and Jack Erickson each recorded multi-hit efforts to lead the Rams offensively, while the pitching staff also managed seven strikeouts on the day. However, six defensive errors proved costly, allowing LSUS to extend innings and capitalize on additional scoring opportunities.

With the victory, LSU Shreveport continues its strong start to the season and will return home this weekend. The Pilots are set to host Our Lady of the Lake in a conference series beginning Friday, March 20 at Pilot Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
