Pilots Ranked No. 7 in Latest NAIA Coaches’ Poll

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport baseball remains firmly in the national conversation, landing at No. 7 in the latest NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

The Pilots, who opened the season ranked No. 1 and held the top spot through multiple early polls before settling into the top five, now sit at 34-10 overall as the regular season winds down.

LSUS enters this week coming off a series win over Texas A&M–Texarkana, despite dropping one contest in the set. The Pilots have four games remaining in the regular season, including a conference road series at Louisiana Christian and a non-conference midweek matchup at Central Baptist (Ark.).

Offensively, LSU Shreveport continues to be one of the most dynamic teams in the NAIA. The Pilots have shown a knack for aggressive base running and situational execution, leading the nation with 36 triples while compiling 163 extra-base hits on the year. LSUS has also excelled in productive outs, ranking No. 1 in the NAIA with 43 sacrifice flies, consistently capitalizing on opportunities with runners in scoring position.

Leading the charge at the plate is Carlos Sanchez, who continues to put together an elite season. Sanchez is hitting .409 with 70 hits, 56 runs scored, and 72 RBIs, while adding 31 stolen bases. He also boasts a .457 on-base percentage and an .830 slugging percentage, serving as the centerpiece of the Pilots' high-powered offense.

On the mound, Brock Lucas has emerged as the staff's ace, putting together a dominant season with an 8-1 record in 12 starts, a 1.90 ERA, and 80 strikeouts compared to just 12 walks. His consistency has anchored a pitching staff that continues to play a key role in the Pilots' success.
