Pilots Power Past LCU 19-8 to Clinch Home RRAC Tournament Berth

PINEVILLE, La. -- LSU Shreveport closed its weekend series in emphatic fashion on Saturday afternoon, erupting for a 19-8 victory over Louisiana Christian University at Billy Allgood Field.

With the win, the Pilots improve to 35-12 overall and 20-7 in RRAC play, while LCU drops to 34-10 and 19-8. The victory also secures LSU Shreveport a home berth in the opening round of the RRAC Tournament, as the Pilots will host the University of the Southwest on April 24-25 at Pilot Field with first pitch set for 6 p.m. both days.

LSUS wasted little time setting the tone, breaking things open early with a nine-run surge across the first two innings. The Pilots' offense stayed aggressive throughout, consistently stringing together quality at-bats and putting pressure on the Wildcats' pitching staff.

The Pilots continued to pile on, scoring in seven of nine innings, including a five-run sixth and a four-run eighth inning to put the game out of reach. LSU Shreveport finished with 19 runs on 19 hits in a dominant offensive showing. At the plate, Quaterrion Walton, Dorien Jackson, and Carlos Sanchez each recorded multi-hit performances, while Carlos Vega and Ashten Wong delivered key RBI knocks in critical moments. Vega's two-run single in the eighth highlighted a late push that helped seal the victory.

On the mound, Jacobo Gallegos earned the win, improving to 5-1 on the season after providing a steady outing early. LSU Shreveport's bullpen followed with solid relief appearances from Calvin Shepherd, Camden Stephens, and Virot Siharath to maintain control. 

Louisiana Christian showed fight with multi-run innings late, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Jacob Bareswill (4-2) was charged with the loss for the Wildcats.

Before turning its attention to the postseason, LSU Shreveport will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, April 21, traveling to Conway, Arkansas, to face Central Baptist College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
