Pilots Explode for 25 Runs in Regular Season Finale Rout of CBC

CONWAY, Ark. -- LSU Shreveport closed out its regular season in emphatic fashion on Tuesday afternoon, erupting for 25 runs in a 25-8 road victory over Central Baptist College. The Pilots finish the regular season at 36-12, while the Mustangs move to 29-20.
LSUS wasted no time setting the tone, plating four runs in the opening frame behind RBI knocks from Dorien Jackson and Carlos Vega before a two-run double from Makana Olaso stretched the early lead. The Pilots continued to apply pressure throughout the middle innings, including a three-run third inning highlighted by a two-RBI single from Olaso and a run-scoring knock from Ashten Wong.
The offensive onslaught reached another level in the fifth inning, when LSUS broke the game open with an eight-run outburst. The inning featured aggressive baserunning, timely hitting, and capitalizing on CBC miscues, with Quaterrion Walton, Nathaniel De La Cruz, and Olaso all contributing to the rally.
The Pilots added four more in the sixth and capped the scoring with a five-run eighth inning to put the game out of reach.
At the plate, LSUS tallied 24 hits as part of the dominant showing. Dorien Jackson led the way with a four-hit performance that included a home run, while Brett Justice added a homer and multiple RBIs. Quaterrion Walton also went deep, and Kobe White contributed a home run of his own as part of a balanced offensive attack that saw eight Pilots record hits.
On the mound, Calvin Stephens earned the win for LSUS, improving to 2-0 after working through the middle innings.
The Mustangs showed fight throughout the game, scoring in five different innings and collecting 14 hits, but were unable to keep pace with LSUS' relentless offensive production.
With the regular season complete, LSU Shreveport now turns its attention to postseason play. The Pilots will host the University of the Southwest in the opening round of the RRAC Baseball Tournament on April 24 at 6 p.m. at Pilot Field in Shreveport.
