Road to the RRAC Title Runs Through Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. -- The road to a Red River Athletic Conference championship runs through Shreveport this weekend as four of the league's top programs converge at Pilot Field for the 2026 RRAC Baseball Championship, May 1-3. Texas A&M-Victoria, LSU Shreveport, Texas A&M-Texarkana, and Our Lady of the Lake arrive with strong resumes, deep lineups, and front-line pitching, setting the stage for a competitive three-day tournament.

Action opens Friday, May 1, with Texas A&M-Victoria facing Our Lady of the Lake at 1 p.m., followed by LSU Shreveport taking on Texas A&M-Texarkana at 5 p.m.

LSU Shreveport (38-12) enters the tournament with one of the most explosive offenses in the field, batting .348 as a team with 543 hits and 56 home runs. The Pilots are led by Carlos Sanchez, who is hitting .388 with 76 hits, 75 RBI, 17 doubles, 13 triples, 11 home runs, and 35 stolen bases, while Makana Olaso brings power in the middle of the order with 15 home runs and 58 RBI. Landon Hunt has been a catalyst at .429, while Quaterrion Walton has added 55 hits and 35 steals. On the mound, Brock Lucas has anchored the staff with a 1.93 ERA, 9-2 record and 102 strikeouts in 79.1 innings, while David Hankins is 7-1 with a 3.14 ERA and 55 strikeouts.

Texas A&M-Victoria (35-13) brings balance and depth into the championship, hitting .327 as a club while posting a 4.24 team ERA. Antonio Benitez leads the offense at .404 with 70 hits, while Beck Zimmerman has driven in 51 runs and Garrett Smith has launched 11 home runs. Ty Boozer adds another dangerous bat with a .331 average and 58 RBI. On the mound, Blane Zeplin has been dominant with a 2.59 ERA, 10 wins and 106 strikeouts, while Jonathan Jones has logged 89.2 innings with an 11-3 record and 85 strikeouts.

Texas A&M-Texarkana (29-23) counters with a lineup that has produced a .325 team average and 52 home runs. Justin Mitchell paces the Eagles with a .500 average in limited action, while James Provencio has been a consistent run producer with 48 RBI. Ahmar Donatto (.363), Landon West (.352), and Tobin Jones (.345) give Texarkana plenty of offensive firepower, while Michael Caputo has added 61 RBI. The pitching staff is led by Tiernon Wolf, who owns a 3.07 ERA in 14 starts, while Brayden Clark has posted a 3.86 ERA and Jeb Drewery has logged 81 strikeouts over 72 innings.

Our Lady of the Lake (34-16) enters the tournament with a potent offense of its own, batting .319 with 112 doubles and 311 RBI. Drew Saucedo leads OLLU at .366, while Joshua Milton is hitting .360 and Jacob Yutner has added 45 RBI. Josh Ruiz brings power with 46 RBI, and Jimmy Bowden has been productive when in the lineup. The Saints' pitching staff has been led by Josh Ruiz, who owns a 1.36 ERA, and Mason Ruiz, who carries a 1.93 ERA. David Benton adds another experienced arm with 15 appearances and four starts.

With elite pitching matchups, dynamic offenses, and a championship berth on the line, this weekend's tournament has all the ingredients for high-level postseason baseball. From the opening pitch Friday through the title game Sunday, Pilot Field will be the center of the RRAC baseball world.

Fans can expect three days of meaningful baseball, standout performances, and the intensity that comes with postseason play — all right here in Shreveport.
