Bio

Austin Orth was announced as the new assistant baseball coach for the Pilot baseball program on June 19, 2026. Orth also serves as the primary game administrator for all athletic events.

The veteran assistant comes to Shreveport after spending the last three seasons at Mid-America Christian University, where he oversaw the program's hitting and offense. Under his guidance, the Evangels put together the most prolific offensive stretch in program history, breaking multiple school records and emerging as one of the top programs in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

While at MACU, Orth coached one NAIA All-American, two SAC Newcomers of the Year, 10 first-team All-SAC hitters, nine second-team selections, and two SAC Gold Glove catchers. During his three years, the Evangels set single-season school records for runs, hits, home runs, RBIs, total bases, walks, stolen bases, batting average, OBP, slugging, and OPS.

His time with the program also featured three straight 40-win seasons, twice breaking the school record for single-season victories. The Evangels captured the 2024 SAC regular-season title, won conference tournament championships in 2024 and 2026, made three consecutive NAIA Opening Round appearances, and advanced to the NAIA World Series in 2026.

Prior to his stint at MACU, Orth was an assistant coach at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School for the 2022–23 season, helping the team to a runner-up district finish while setting school records in stolen bases, OBP, and hit-by-pitches.

The Pilots assistant also spent five seasons on the staff at Oklahoma Christian University from 2017 to 2022. There, he developed nine all-conference hitters across the Heartland and Lone Star Conferences, five NCAA All-Region selections, and two conference Freshmen of the Year.
