BLANKENSHIP AND EVANS TAKE HOME LABC AWARDS
Coach Kyle Blankenship and Kadavion Evans added a few more awards to their already impressive resumes. The Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches (LABC) announced on Tuesday that Blankenship had been named the LABC Small College Coach of the Year, and Evans was named Small College Player of the Year. These awards carry significant relevance because they are voted on by the basketball coaches of Louisiana. This is the second year in a row for Blankenship to win the award.
After a stellar 16-2 season that resulted in the 17th straight National Tournament appearance for the Pilots, a regular season championship and tournament championship, Blankenship and Evans were named as the RRAC Coach of the Year and Player of the Year with Evans also being named as First Team All-Conference and one of the three unanamious First Team All-Americans. Covid-19 made things difficult, but it did not stop the Pilots from having a memorable season and carrying on the successful tradition of LSUS Men's Basketball.
This is the second year in a row and the third overall LABC Small College Coach of the Year award for Blankenship.
