Jalen Brooks Adds All-Louisiana to Long List of Accolades

Natchitoches, La.--- The Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) took some time following the completion of the 2022-2023 athletic year to compile their All Louisiana Teams in reminisce on the year. It was announced Thursday morning the selections for the three All-Louisiana Teams for Men's Basketball, and it comes as no surprise where Jalen Brooks was placed.

Brooks was one of 15 players selected across the three teams in the state of Louisiana. Each team was comprised of 5 players, and Brooks found himself sporting the new title of an All-Louisiana First Team selection. In his final season in his hometown of Shreveport, Brooks had an overall record of 26-8 while averaging 22.5 points per game as well as 11.2 rebounds per game. Of the 32 games he played in he secured 21 double-doubles and led the RRAC in points per game and rebounds. Brooks led the Pilots statistically with 719 points, 357 rebounds, 54 steals, 37 blocks, and three other categories. He ranked second nationally with 11.2 rebounds per game and eight for points per game with 22.5. He finished his season leading the country with 118 offensive rebounds as well as third in free throws made and ninth overall in total field goals made in the NAIA.

Brooks now has eight titles to his name as he was previously selected as Louisiana Small College Player of the Year 2023, NAIA First Team All-American, the Red River Player of the Year, RRAC Newcomer of the Year, RRAC Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference Selection for the RRAC, and was an 8-Time RRAC Player of the Week. Brooks also found himself as a Bevo Francis Award Semifinalist which spans across all lower levels of basketball. He continues to wear the Pilot jersey well, even after his impressive senior season has come to a close.
