Pilots Basketball Defeats John Melvin Millers in Champions of Character Game

Shreveport, Louisiana— In a thrilling Champions of Character basketball game, the LSU Shreveport Pilots delivered a dominating performance, securing a resounding victory over the John Melvin Millers with a final score of 126 to 70. With the win the Pilots remain at an overall record of 1-0 as the game was an exhibition.

The Pilots took control of the game right from the tip-off, displaying their offensive prowess early on. They stormed to an impressive lead by the end of the first half, amassing a remarkable 73 points. Shooting an efficient 27-42 from the field, they showcased their scoring abilities. The Pilots made their mark from beyond the arc, sinking nine three-pointers, and they didn't miss a beat at the free-throw line, going a perfect 10-10. On the defensive end, they held the Millers to just 35 points in the first half, as John Melvin's team struggled to find their rhythm, shooting 11-31 from the field, including six three-pointers, and converting seven free throws.

The second half saw the Pilots maintaining their offensive onslaught, putting up another 53 points. They demonstrated their versatility by netting 21 field goals and sinking two more three-pointers. Their free-throw accuracy remained exceptional, as they converted nine more free throws. The Millers managed to match their first-half point total, adding 35 points to their tally in the second half. They shot 14-33 from the field, including 4 three-pointers, and made three more free throws.

For the Pilots, it was a collective effort, with seven players reaching double-digit figures in scoring. The star of the game was freshman Tahj Roots, who led the team with 23 points, including four three-pointers, and a perfect 3-3 at the free-throw line. Josh LeBlanc had an outstanding all-around performance, going 6-6 from the field and a flawless 7-7 at the free-throw line, amassing 19 points. He also contributed 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and one block.

Jalen King and Jordan DeCuir both contributed 16 points each. King was highly efficient, shooting 6-9 from the field, 1-1 from beyond the arc, and 3-3 at the free-throw line. He also made his presence felt on the defensive end with three steals and added 2 rebounds. DeCuir displayed his sharpshooting skills, going 6-13 from the field with 4 three-pointers. He chipped in with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.

Calvin Carpenter and James Ellis were significant contributors with 14 points each. Carpenter showcased his scoring efficiency, going 5-6 from the field and 4-5 from the free-throw line. Ellis was a perfect 6-6 from the field and 2-2 at the free-throw line. Will Mfum rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points, shooting 4-8 from the field, including two three-pointers.

The Pilots will be back in action November 10th as they travel to New Orleans to face the Wolfpack of Loyola. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm from New Orleans, Louisiana.
