Pilot Men's Basketball Ends Senior Day with a Victory

Shreveport, Louisiana— In a thrilling Senior Day showdown, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport emerged victorious with a hard-fought 81-68 win over the Tigers of Paul Quinn in a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer. With emotions running high on Senior Day, the Pilots delivered a performance to remember, showcasing their resilience and determination on the court. The Pilots have improved to an overall record of 21-7 and 16-6 in conference.

The game got off to an intense start, with both teams trading baskets in a back-and-forth battle throughout the first quarter. As the game progressed, the Pilots managed to gain a slight edge, building a 10-point lead with just over six minutes left in the first half. However, the Tigers refused to back down, mounting a formidable comeback with a 13-point run to close out the half, taking a narrow 38-36 lead into halftime.

Despite trailing at the half, the Pilots remained composed and focused as they emerged from the break determined to reclaim control of the game. With 14 minutes remaining in the game, the Pilots surged ahead, embarking on an 11-point run to seize the lead and never looked back. From that point on, they maintained their momentum and executed their game plan flawlessly, outscoring the Tigers 45-30 in the second half to secure the victory.

Leading the scoring charge for the Pilots was Damon Davis, who delivered a stellar performance with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and a near-perfect 5-of-6 performance at the free-throw line. Davis also showcased his playmaking ability, leading the team with six assists and adding one steal to his stat line. Close behind him was Melvion Flanagan, who contributed 18 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line.

Joining them in the double-digit scoring column was Calvin Carpenter, who chipped in with 15 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field, including one three-pointer, and a perfect 6-of-6 performance at the free-throw line. Senior Tyler Washington made his presence felt on the boards, leading the Pilots with 10 rebounds to anchor their efforts in the paint.

With this hard-fought victory, the Pilots celebrated Senior Day in style, honoring their seniors while reaffirming their status as contenders as they prepare for postseason play.
