LSU Shreveport Men's Basketball Sweeps RRAC Player of the Week Awards
SHREVEPORT, La. -- LSU Shreveport men's basketball has swept the Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards for the week of Dec. 1-7, with both honors going to Pilots players who delivered exceptional performances during two decisive victories.
Sophomore guard Khi Wallace earned his second Player of the Week award of the season, having previously won defensive honors earlier this year, by capturing the RRAC Offensive Player of the Week. Wallace was instrumental in leading the Pilots to two impressive victories, showcasing the offensive firepower that has defined his exceptional season. In a 107-63 victory over Texas College, Wallace delivered a stellar performance with 26 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, four steals, and two blocks. He followed up with an even more impressive outing against Jarvis Christian, scoring 31 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the Pilots' highest-scoring victory of the season, a 114-76 win.
Wallace continues to dominate the statistics for LSUS, leading the team with 138 points for an average of 17.3 points per game and 72 rebounds for 9.0 rebounds per game. The performance marked his fifth double-double of the season, demonstrating his consistent ability to impact the game on multiple fronts.
Senior forward Hayden Brittingham captured the conference's defensive honor, continuing his impactful presence on both ends of the court that has made him a cornerstone of the Pilots' success. Brittingham recorded a double-double against Texas College with 21 points and 12 rebounds, adding two assists and two blocks in the 107-63 victory. Against Jarvis Christian, he contributed 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals, and two blocks in the 114-76 win, showcasing the defensive versatility that earned him the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week award.
Brittingham ranks second on the team with 130 points for 16.3 points per game, proving that his defensive prowess doesn't come at the expense of offensive production. He leads the Pilots with 13 blocks and ranks second with 70 rebounds, establishing himself as a dominant force in the paint and a reliable option for his team.
The Pilots continue their strong conference play with a 5-3 overall record and a 3-0 mark in Red River Athletic Conference action. LSUS will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 11 as they travel to LSU Alexandria to continue conference play. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
