Brittingham’s Defensive Dominance Earns RRAC Weekly Honor
SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport senior forward Hayden Brittingham was named the Red River Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period of Jan. 5–11, the conference office announced.
Brittingham continued his dominant play as LSUS went 2-0 on the week to remain perfect in RRAC action. The senior averaged 22.5 points per game while recording his seventh double-double of the season. He was instrumental in the Pilots' 84-81 victory over North American University, finishing with 26 points and 14 rebounds, including 10 defensive boards. Brittingham also added three steals and two blocks in the win.
On the season, Brittingham leads the NAIA in field goals made (116-of-199), total rebounds (158), and total points (281). He also paces the Pilots with 24 steals and 27 blocks. The honor marks Brittingham's fifth Player of the Week award this season, including two offensive and three defensive selections.
LSU Shreveport is ranked No. 25 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll and remains undefeated in conference play at 10-0. The Pilots hold a 13-3 overall record on the season.
