SHREVEPORT, La. — The LSU Shreveport men's basketball team delivered an offensive showcase Thursday night at The Dock, cruising to a 102-65 victory over Louisiana Christian University.
With the win, the Pilots improved to 16-4 overall and 13-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play, while the Wildcats dropped to 4-16 overall and 2-12 in conference action.
LSU Shreveport set the tone early, jumping out to a 52-30 halftime advantage behind efficient shooting and relentless ball movement. The Pilots continued to pour it on in the second half, pushing their lead to as many as 39 points and finishing the night shooting an impressive 59.4 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from three-point range.
Thaddeus Johnson led the Pilots with 20 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Khi Wallace added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Hayden Brittingham stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Devonte Austin contributed 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists, and Emareyon McDonald recorded 15 points, five assists, and two steals. Alexzaye Johnson posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Justice Kelly paced Louisiana Christian with a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds. Drew Tebbe added 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Timothy Ferguson scored 11 points with two rebounds and two assists. Ja'Vonte Thomas chipped in five points and seven rebounds.
LSU Shreveport's offensive balance was complemented by strong team play, as the Pilots totaled 26 assists on 38 made field goals and committed just nine turnovers. The Pilots also dominated the paint with 48 points inside and outscored LCU in fastbreak opportunities and second-chance points.
The Pilots will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31, as they welcome LSU Alexandria to The Dock. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
