Pilots Lock In Defensively in 87-55 Road Win Over UNT Dallas

DALLAS, Texas – LSU Shreveport put together a strong defensive performance and efficient offensive outing in an 87-55 win over UNT Dallas on Thursday night.

With the victory, LSUS improves to 19-4 overall and 16-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play. UNT Dallas falls to 8-10 overall and 7-9 in conference action.

The Pilots shot 53.1 percent from the field (34-of-64) while holding the Trailblazers to just 24.7 percent (20-of-81). LSUS also controlled the paint, outscoring UNT Dallas 44-30 inside, and built a lead that reached as many as 32 points in the second half.

Hayden Brittingham led the Pilots with 24 points, six blocks, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. He was active on both ends throughout the night, recording multiple early blocks that helped set the defensive tone.

Thaddeus Johnson followed with 22 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. Emareyon McDonald added 14 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Alexzaye Johnson contributed across the stat sheet with 13 rebounds, seven points, six assists, three steals, and a block.

Khi Wallace anchored the interior with 12 rebounds, seven points, four blocks, and two steals as the Pilots totaled double-digit blocks as a team and limited second-chance opportunities despite UNT Dallas narrowly winning the rebounding battle, 52-51.

LSUS closed the first half on a 9-2 run, capped by a Solomon Ray tip-in at the buzzer, to take a 42-30 lead into the break. The Pilots quickly extended the margin in the second half, opening with an 8-0 push to create separation and never allowing the Trailblazers to get closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

For UNT Dallas, DaRyan Williams recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Sedric Curry, Jr. finished with nine points and six rebounds, while Greg Crawford added eight points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

The Pilots will return to action on Feb. 10 as they travel to face Texas College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
