TYLER, Texas -- LSU Shreveport Athletics improved to 20-4 overall and 17-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play with a 113-87 road victory over Texas College Athletics on Tuesday night. The Steers fall to 3-20 overall and 2-16 in conference action.
After a tightly contested opening half that featured five ties and nine lead changes, the Pilots carried a 46-41 advantage into the break. Texas College briefly held an eight-point lead midway through the first half, but LSUS closed the period on a 10-0 run over the final 1:09, highlighted by a three-pointer from Devonte Austin and strong inside play from Thaddeus Johnson.
Johnson led the charge with a game-high 42 points and seven rebounds, scoring consistently at the rim as LSUS dominated the paint. The Pilots finished with 76 points in the paint and shot 60.8 percent (45-of-74) from the field.

LSUS began to create separation midway through the second half. Holding a narrow 62-59 lead with 14:55 to play, the Pilots used an extended run fueled by second-chance opportunities and defensive stops to push the margin to double digits. Brittingham controlled the glass during the stretch, and Johnson continued to convert around the basket as the lead ballooned to as many as 26 points late.
The Pilots outrebounded the Steers 42-26 and turned 13 Texas College turnovers into 20 points. LSUS also received a significant lift from its bench, which outscored Texas College's reserves 43-10.
