Khi Wallace Earns Third RRAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor
SHREVEPORT, La. -- LSU Shreveport men's basketball sophomore forward Khi Wallace has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the dates of Feb. 9-15 after anchoring the Pilots in two pivotal road victories.
Wallace was dominant on the defensive end in wins over Texas A&M University-San Antonio (94-84) and Our Lady of the Lake (81-70), helping LSU Shreveport secure the RRAC Regular-Season Championship. In just 57 combined minutes, he pulled down 25 total rebounds — an average of 12.5 per game — including 17 defensive boards. He also protected the rim at an elite level, totaling five blocks (2.5 per game) across the two contests.
Against Texas A&M-San Antonio, Wallace collected 14 rebounds and two blocks, setting the tone inside in a key conference matchup. He followed that performance with 11 rebounds and three blocks at Our Lady of the Lake, once again serving as the Pilots' defensive backbone.
On the season, Wallace leads LSU Shreveport with 157 defensive rebounds and 40 blocks, while also tallying 87 offensive rebounds, 28 steals, and 24 assists. Offensively, he has been just as efficient, shooting 177-of-279 from the field and averaging 15.3 points per game with 429 total points. This marks his third Defensive Player of the Week honor this season to go along with one Offensive Player of the Week award.
LSU Shreveport, ranked No. 13 in the latest NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, sits at 23-5 overall and 20-2 in RRAC play. The Pilots have clinched the RRAC Regular-Season Title and secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
LSUS will host the RRAC Men's Basketball Quarterfinal on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. inside The Dock, welcoming No. 8 seed Texas A&M-San Antonio. The Pilots have also earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Tournament as they continue their postseason push.
