No. 1 LSUS Set for RRAC Semifinal Showdown with Texas A&M–Texarkana Saturday Night
SHREVEPORT, La. -- LSU Shreveport men's basketball continues its postseason push Saturday night as the No. 1 seed Pilots face No. 5 seed Texas A&M University–Texarkana in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Alexandria, Louisiana, with a berth in the championship game on the line.
Top-seeded LSU Shreveport enters the matchup playing its best basketball of the season behind a balanced and explosive attack. The Pilots are averaging 92.0 points per game while shooting with efficiency and sharing the ball at a high level, dishing out 17.6 assists per contest. LSUS also controls the glass with 42.2 rebounds per game and makes its presence felt defensively, averaging 7.6 steals and 5.9 blocks per outing.
Leading the charge is Hayden Brittingham, who anchors the Pilots on both ends of the floor. Brittingham is averaging 17.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, consistently setting the tone with his physicality, versatility, and leadership.
Khi Wallace has emerged as a dominant force in his own right, averaging 15.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per contest. Wallace's ability to impact the game inside and out has given LSUS a powerful one-two punch in the frontcourt.
Alexzaye Johnson has been the engine that keeps the offense flowing. The guard averages 9.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while ranking among the nation's top assist leaders at 5.2 assists per contest. His ability to distribute the basketball and control tempo has played a vital role in the Pilots' offensive efficiency throughout the season.
On the other side, Texas A&M–Texarkana advanced to the semifinals with an 83–75 victory over No. 4 seed Our Lady of the Lake on Tuesday night. The Eagles enter Saturday's contest averaging 78.6 points per game, along with 40.7 rebounds and 13.4 assists per outing. Defensively, TAMUT creates pressure with 10.2 steals per game.
Deovaunta Williams leads the Eagles with 16.5 points and 2.4 steals per game, while Jarren Cook adds 15.3 points per contest. Daniel Vieira-Tuck contributes 13.4 points per game, and Daryl Houston controls the boards with 8.9 rebounds per outing. Payton Chism directs the offense, averaging 3.3 assists per game.
Saturday's semifinal sets up a clash of styles, as LSUS' high-powered offense meets a Texarkana squad that thrives on defensive pressure and opportunistic scoring.
