Pilots Dominate Bulldogs in 90-49 Victory

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) women's basketball team continued their stellar season with a commanding 90-49 victory over Jarvis Christian University (JCU) on Tuesday night at The Dock. The Pilots, now 13-3 overall and 12-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference, showcased their offensive and defensive prowess in the dominant performance.

Junior guard Paula Gonzalez Herrero led the way for LSUS with an impressive double-double, tallying 21 points and 10 rebounds. Vicky Parra delivered a well-rounded performance, contributing 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Fatima Katembo was a force on both ends of the floor, adding 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Helena Galunic chipped in 10 points, five steals, and three rebounds. Alexis Brown facilitated the offense with a team-high five assists.

The Pilots displayed remarkable efficiency, shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 75 percent from the free-throw line. Defensively, they stifled the Bulldogs, holding JCU to just 27.4 percent shooting from the field and 20.7 percent from three-point range.

JCU's Jacy Reese and Shamya Champ led their team with 11 points apiece, while Taylor Gordon controlled the boards with a game-high 13 rebounds. However, the Bulldogs struggled offensively and managed only 42.9 percent from the free-throw line.

With this victory, LSUS continues to solidify its position at the top of the Red River Athletic Conference standings. The Pilots will look to extend their winning streak when they return to action on Saturday, January 11, hosting Texas A&M University-Texarkana at The Dock. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
