Hays Earns Back-to-Back RRAC Coach of the Year Honors
SHREVEPORT, La. – Tim Hays has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading LSU Shreveport to another championship-caliber campaign in 2025. Hays guided the Pilots to a 25-4 overall record and a 20-2 mark in conference play, securing the RRAC Regular Season Championship and an automatic berth into the NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament.
Under Hays' leadership, LSUS remained on the national radar from start to finish. The Pilots opened the season ranked No. 25 in the national poll and continued to receive votes throughout the year, reinforcing the program's steady rise among the NAIA's top teams. LSUS has built its success on balance and defensive intensity, averaging 72.4 points, 39.4 rebounds, 15.7 assists, 15.5 steals, and 4 blocks per game while consistently setting the tone on both ends of the floor.
The season was also marked by record-breaking performances. Toni Coleman broke the program's single-season steals record with 86 and currently ranks No. 1 in the nation in steals with 135, while Amandine L'Etang set a new single-season blocks record with 71 and ranks No. 3 nationally in blocks with 73. The development of elite defensive playmakers highlights Hays' emphasis on effort, discipline, and preparation.
As the No. 1 seed in the RRAC Women's Basketball Tournament, the Pilots now turn their attention to postseason play. LSU Shreveport will face Xavier University of Louisiana in the semifinal round on Saturday, Feb. 28, with tip-off scheduled for 3 p.m. at Labourde Earles Coliseum as they continue their pursuit of a conference tournament title and a deep national tournament run.
