LSWA Names Markisic to All-Louisiana Second Team

SHREVEPORT, La. -- LSU Shreveport women's basketball standout Selma Markisic has been named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) All-Louisiana Second Team, adding another major honor to her standout 2025–26 campaign.

Markisic, a graduate guard, turned in one of the most impressive seasons in program history, earning Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Player of the Year honors while leading the Pilots to both the RRAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.

She appeared in 31 games and averaged 17.8 points per game, finishing the year with 583 total points. Markisic shot 42.4 percent from the field, 33.6 percent from three-point range, and 59.9 percent from the free throw line, while serving as the team's primary offensive leader.

Her performance helped guide LSU Shreveport to a 28-5 overall record and a 20-2 mark in conference play, as the Pilots advanced to the second round of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship Tournament.

Markisic also cemented her legacy in the LSUS record books, becoming the program's all-time leader in career steals (166) while also setting a new career three-point record.

In addition to her LSWA All-Louisiana honor, Markisic was named an NAIA All-American Third Team selection and earned All-RRAC honors, highlighting her impact at both the conference and national levels.

Her selection by the LSWA places her among the top collegiate players in the state of Louisiana and caps a season defined by scoring, leadership, and record-breaking achievement.
