Pilots Take Down Tigers
Dallas, Texas- The Women's soccer team (9-5-3,4-5-2) ended their season on a high note as they took down conference opponent Paul Quinn. With the win the Pilots move to 9-5-3 overall and 4-5-2 in conference play. The Tigers drop their ninth straight bringing their season to 1-10 in conference and 6-10-1 overall.
The Pilots dominated the pitch for the entirety of the match. Chelsea Brown had a record day for the Pilots as she opened up scoring with an assist from Felicity McNeil. Shortly after opening the door, Yuvia Vazquez added to the Pilot tally with an assist from Kirsten Nolan. From there the Pilots rolled on with Brown adding a second goal with an assist from Aimee Dilworth, McNeil scoring a goal of her own, and Vazquez gaining another with help from Dilworth once more. The Pilots rolled into half time sitting at a solid 5-0 and 45 minutes to go.
The second half was much like the first with the Pilots continuing to pressure the Tigers. Brown continued to lay on the gas as she scored two more goals with assists from Carlota Alcalde and Vazquez. Vazquez, seeing Brown complete her hat-trick, wanted one of her own and scored a third goal for the Pilots. Brown landed the final goal for the Pilots with an assist from McNeil before the Tigers scored a late goal in the closing minutes of the match.
The Pilots were led by none other than Chelsea Brown. Brown had 5 goals with 15 shots, 9 of which were on frame. Yuvia Vazquez completed a hat trick of her own while also having an assist while Felicity McNeil played a role in four of the goals with 3 assists and a goal off of a rebound.
Head Coach Dejan Milosevic said, "A great way to finish the season. We dominated from the sound of the first whistle to the last. This was a very turbulent season with ups and downs, but we have finished strong with 3 wins out of 4 games. We have a lot of positives to build on for the next season."
Pilot of the Match
Chelsea Brown was selected as Pilot of the Match for her dominating performance this afternoon. With 9 shots on goal and 15 shots overall, Brown was able to break three more records on the season which were Record Number of Shots in a Single Game, Record Number of Shots on Goal in a Single Game, as well as Record Number of Shots in her career. "Congratulations to Chelsea Brown on her goals and broken records!" Milosevich said
The Women's Soccer team will be back in action in the Fall of 2023.
