LSU Shreveport Names Tom Cobham Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport has announced the hiring of Tom Cobham as the women's soccer assistant coach, effective February 2, 2026.

Cobham brings a proven record of success and continuity to the Pilots' women's soccer program after serving as an assistant coach with both the men's and women's teams at LSU Shreveport since January 2022. In that role, Cobham played a key part in daily training design, match preparation, opponent scouting and video analysis, recruiting support, travel coordination, and overall program operations.

"I am thrilled to add Tom Cobham as a full-time assistant coach," said Andy Kaplan, head women's soccer coach. "He did a wonderful job as a graduate assistant for the previous two years. Tom's outstanding work ethic and coaching talent will help elevate our program to compete at the highest level."

Cobham's contributions have coincided with sustained championship success on the field. During his tenure, the LSUS men's program captured Red River Athletic Conference regular-season championships in 2022, 2023, and 2024, along with the 2022 RRAC Tournament title, and earned three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances, advancing to the Round of 16 in 2024. The men's coaching staff was also honored as the United Soccer Coaches West Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2022.

On the women's side, Cobham helped guide the Pilots to back-to-back RRAC regular-season championships in 2024 and 2025, as well as a first-round appearance in the 2024 NAIA National Tournament, marking continued growth and national recognition for the program.

A multiple-degree graduate of LSU Shreveport, Cobham has also served as interim head coach for both the men's and women's programs during transitional periods, ensuring competitive consistency while maintaining academic accountability and full training operations. His coaching résumé further includes experience at the club and high school levels, strengthening his player development and recruiting reach throughout the region.
