LSUS Women's Tennis Ranked No. 21 in ITA National Poll; Lescher and Maldonado Earn No. 49 Doubles Ranking
SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSUS women's tennis team continues to make waves on the national stage, earning the No. 21 spot in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's Tennis Rankings. The Pilots have compiled an impressive 5-2 overall record this season, accumulating 41.67 points in the national rankings. Additionally, LSUS is receiving votes (32) in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches Top 25 Poll.
Highlighting the team's success, the No. 1 doubles duo of Pierina Lescher and Daniela Maldonado has been ranked No. 49 in the country by the ITA. The pair boasts a 5-1 overall record, tallying 13.70 points in the rankings. Among their notable victories, Lescher and Maldonado secured a key win over Louisiana Christian University, prevailing 7-6, 7-2.
Head Coach Akeem Williams expressed how hard both student-athletes have worked for the accomplishment. "The young ladies have worked hard to beat many formidable opponents," Williams said. "It's time they get their recognition."
