LSUS Women’s Tennis Ranked No. 25 in Latest NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll
SHREVEPORT, La. -- LSU Shreveport women's tennis has earned a spot in the national rankings, coming in at No. 25 in the latest NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches Top 25 Poll with 54 total points.
The Pilots are currently 1-3 overall to open the 2026 campaign, competing against a challenging early-season schedule. Their signature win came on January 31 when LSUS defeated the College of Idaho, 5-2, showcasing depth and resilience across both singles and doubles play.
The Pilots opened the match by claiming the doubles point, winning two of three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Lucia Lucas and Maike Tiersma set the tone with a decisive 6–1 victory over Hristina Ljuba and Nicole Tran. Lidia Gomez and Ana Julia De Paula Mandrot followed with a 6–3 win at No. 2 doubles.
LSUS carried that momentum into singles play, earning four victories to clinch the match. Tiersma secured a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles, defeating Lina Boylan 6–4, 6–2. At No. 2, Gomez delivered a dominant performance, cruising past Hristina Ljuba 6–0, 6–3.
Additional points came from the lower half of the lineup, as Ana Julia De Paula Mandrot earned a 7–6, 6–2 victory over Kinsey Lockhart at No. 5 singles, and Jade Derks capped the scoring for the Pilots with a hard-fought three-set win at No. 6 singles, rallying past Alyssa Johnson 2–6, 6–3, 7–6.
Despite a tough start in the win-loss column, the national ranking reflects the respect the Pilots have earned from coaches across the country and the strength of their competitive performances early in the season.
LSUS will look to build momentum as they return to the court on March 7, hosting Jacksonville College. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
