Pilots Hold Off Oklahoma City in One-Point Thriller, 73-72
RICHARDSON, Texas — The LSU Shreveport men's basketball team escaped with a hard-fought 73-72 road victory over Oklahoma City University on Monday night, improving to 2-0 on the season.
Khi Wallace led the way for the Pilots with a double-double performance, scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to go along with strong defensive play. Hayden Brittingham followed closely behind with 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three blocks, making his presence felt on both ends of the court.
LSUS showed its efficiency offensively, shooting 54.0% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc, though free throws proved a challenge at 44.8%. The Pilots dominated the paint with a 36-18 advantage and out-rebounded the Stars 40-33, while also getting key contributions from their bench, which outscored OCU's reserves 29-20.
Oklahoma City was paced by Brian Alexander's 19 points, three assists, and three rebounds. Jonas Carlisle added 17 points and five rebounds, while Alphonse Muteba came close to a double-double with 10 points and nine boards. The Stars shot just 32.8% from the field and 27.3% from three-point range.
The Pilots will return home to The Dock on Friday, Nov. 7, for an 11 a.m. exhibition matchup against UT-Tyler.
