Pilots Fall to Jarvis Christian on the Road, 79-72
HAWKINS, Texas — LSU Shreveport men's basketball saw its winning streak snapped Thursday night, falling 79-72 to Jarvis Christian University in Red River Athletic Conference action.
The Pilots move to 15-4 overall and 12-1 in RRAC play, while the Bulldogs improved to 9-8 overall and 6-7 in conference action.
LSUS battled throughout the night but struggled to find consistent rhythm offensively, shooting 31.5 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from three-point range. Jarvis Christian shot 38.2 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. The Pilots went 21-of-40 from the free-throw line, while the Bulldogs connected on 22-of-34 attempts.
Despite the loss, LSU Shreveport held a slight edge on the boards, outrebounding Jarvis Christian 48-44. The Bulldogs moved the ball effectively with 14 assists compared to LSUS's four, while the Pilots finished with 15 turnovers to Jarvis Christian's 13.
Emareyon McDonald led the Pilots with 15 points and two rebounds. Alexzaye Johnson and Thaddeus Johnson each added 13 points, with Alexzaye Johnson also recording three rebounds and two steals. Devonte Austin finished with 12 points and five rebounds.
Hayden Brittingham posted his ninth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds while adding two blocks. Khi Wallace delivered a strong presence inside, totaling eight points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks.
Jarvis Christian was paced by Aboubakar Cisse, who poured in a game-high 21 points to go with four rebounds and two assists. Iversyn Smith recorded a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds, along with two steals and two blocks. DeMar Moore dished out five assists, and Mark Wise contributed eight rebounds and four assists.
LSU Shreveport will return to action on Jan. 29, hosting Louisiana Christian University at The Dock. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
