Pilots Clinch Share of RRAC Regular Season Title, No. 1 Seed with 101-93 Homecoming Win

SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU Shreveport men's basketball team celebrated Homecoming in championship fashion Thursday night, defeating North American University, 101-93, to clinch a share of the RRAC Regular Season Championship inside The Dock.

With the win, the Pilots improve to 21-4 overall and 18-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play, securing the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and extending their streak to 22 consecutive national tournament appearances. The Stallions fall to 15-9 overall and 11-8 in league play.

LSUS set the tone early, knocking down perimeter shots and controlling the glass to build a double-digit advantage midway through the first half. The Pilots shot an efficient 55.2 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from three-point range (9-of-16), using balanced scoring and strong interior play to maintain control.

After leading 52-46 at halftime, the Pilots were tested in the second half as North American trimmed the margin and briefly tied the game at 61-61 with 15:27 to play. LSUS responded with poise, using a 10-4 surge capped by a Hayden Brittingham dunk to regain momentum. From there, the Pilots continued to attack the paint and convert at the free-throw line to keep the Stallions at bay.

Khi Wallace led the way with a dominant double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, adding three blocks and three steals. Thaddeus Johnson scored 18 points with four assists, while Emareyon McDonald contributed 17 points and nine rebounds. Brittingham filled the stat sheet with 17 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks, and Alexzaye Johnson added 14 points and six rebounds.

The Pilots held a 40-32 edge on the boards and outscored the Stallions 54-48 in the paint while converting 24 second-chance points. LSUS also assisted on 20 of its 37 made field goals.

For North American, Joseph Cormier paced the offense with 23 points and five rebounds. Oakley Lewis finished with 18 points, and Jamarric Hammond added 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Jayden Jackson chipped in 11 points and two blocks.

Despite committing 22 turnovers that led to 26 Stallion points, LSUS countered with efficient shooting and timely defensive stops down the stretch to secure the eight-point victory.

The Pilots will return to action Saturday as they host Xavier University of Louisiana. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. inside The Dock.
