Pilots Open Season with 3-1 Win Over Texas Wesleyan

Shreveport, Louisiana --- The Pilots took to the pitch Saturday evening as they opened their 2023 season against the Rams of Texas Wesleyan. The Pilots found themselves victorious as they secured a 3-1 victory over the Rams. This moves the Pilots record to 1-0 on the season.

The Rams and Pilots went head to head from the jump, but it was the Rams that struck first. In the 25th minute of the match the Rams connected with the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead. The Pilots weren't discouraged however and continued to battle throughout the rest of the first half. As the clock ticked down Emiel Nieuwhof found a way to sneak one past the Rams' keeper and level the score at 1-1.

The Pilots took to the pitch in the second half looking to capitalize on the offensive energy at the end of the first. Jake Strachan lifted the Pilots over the Rams with a second Pilots goal in the 62nd minute. Adam Gonzalez dealt the final blow to the Rams as he finished a third shot giving the Pilots a 3-1 lead. They held the Rams scoreless for the remainder of the match dealing them their first loss of the season. 

The Pilots will be back in action Thursday August 24th as they take on the Evangels of Mid-America Christian. Kick off is set for 7:30pm CT from Oklahoma City, OK.
