LSU Shreveport Men’s Soccer Finishes Season Ranked No. 12 in NAIA Coaches Top 25

SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU Shreveport men's soccer team capped a historic season by finishing ranked No. 12 in the final NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, punctuating a year filled with milestones, postseason success, and national recognition.

The Pilots' final ranking comes on the heels of a stellar 2025 campaign that included hosting an NAIA Men's Soccer National Tournament Second Round match and advancing to the Round of 16 for the second consecutive season. LSU Shreveport thrilled the home crowd with a dramatic 3–2 overtime victory over Faulkner, erasing an early two-goal deficit before netting the golden goal in the 96th minute to secure a spot at the national final site.

LSUS' postseason run came to an end in the Round of 16, where the Pilots battled Warner Pacific University (Ore.) to a 1–1 draw through double overtime before falling 4–3 in a penalty shootout. Despite the result, the Pilots closed the year among the nation's elite, finishing No. 12 in the final poll.

During the regular season, LSU Shreveport reached No. 7 in the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll — the highest national ranking in program history. The Pilots opened the year at No. 13 in the preseason poll, briefly slipped to No. 15 on September 3, and then steadily climbed the rankings: No. 14 on September 17, No. 12 on October 1, No. 11 on October 15, and into the Top 10 at No. 7 on October 29.

LSUS also continued its dominance in the Red River Athletic Conference. Head Coach Adam Kay was named the 2025 RRAC Coach of the Year after leading the Pilots to their fourth consecutive RRAC Regular Season Championship.

Under Kay's leadership, the Pilots totaled 47 goals and 43 assists, posted a 50.7 percent shot-on-goal rate, and recorded nine shutouts while allowing just 11 goals all season.

Senior midfielder Jack Thomas (Whittington, England) was named the RRAC Offensive Player of the Year following a record-breaking season. Anchoring the defense, Caleb Marchany earned RRAC Defensive Player of the Year honors after starting all 16 matches he played and leading a backline that limited opponents to 11 goals on the year.

Joining Thomas and Marchany on the RRAC First Team All-Conference were Jaime Zani and Aksel Battal. Zani started 15 of 18 matches and finished with 11 goals, 10 assists, 32 points, three game-winning goals, and a 65.8 shot-on-goal percentage. Battal added three goals, one assist, and seven points in 14 starts, including one game-winner.

Goalkeeper Sondre Liahagen-Kolnes earned RRAC Second Team All-Conference honors after starting 16 matches, recording six shutouts, making 26 saves, and posting a 73 percent save rate.

Joel Trueb and Jacob Doehman received RRAC Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition. Trueb tallied five goals, five assists, and 15 points in 17 appearances, while Doehman recorded two assists across 15 starts.

LSUS also placed two freshmen on the RRAC All-Freshman Team: Mathias Martinez de Sucre, who scored one goal in 10 appearances, and Arian Morris, who played in nine matches with one start.

Rounding out the postseason accolades, Jordan Bidaisee was named to the RRAC Champions of Character Team, exemplifying the NAIA's core values of respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.

With a final national ranking of No. 12, a conference regular season title, and another deep postseason run, the LSU Shreveport men's soccer team closes one of the most successful seasons in program history and sets a strong foundation for the future.
