Women's Soccer Battles LSUA to a Rivalry Win

Shreveport, Louisiana—In an intense soccer match, the LSU Shreveport Pilots triumphed over the LSU Alexandria Generals with a final score of 3-1. With the win the Pilots improve to an overall record of 9-3-3 and a conference record of 7-1-3.

The first half was fiercely contested, with both teams vying for possession. The Pilots made their mark when Maddie Salas expertly redirected a corner kick from Dawniella Torres, allowing Olivia Sanchez to find the back of the net, giving the Pilots a 1-0 lead at halftime. The Pilots dominated the shot count, outshooting the Generals 7-2 in their quest to protect their goal.

The second half saw both teams resolute in their pursuit of goals. The Pilots struck again as Taylor Gregory's corner kick, originally misjudged by the defense, ended up in the back of the net. Alba Martinez extended the lead with a well-executed goal, orchestrated by Diana Sanchez and Reva Ross.

Despite the Pilots' 3-0 advantage, the Generals managed to break through the defense with a sharp free kick into the upper 90, ending the Pilots' clean sheet. The Pilots continued to outshoot the Generals, though by a narrower margin of 6-5 in the second half. It was a hard-fought victory for the Pilots, securing a 3-1 win over the Generals.

The Pilots will be back in action Thursday October 26th as they take on the Steers of Texas College. Kick off is set for 1:00pm CT from The Swamp in Shreveport, Louisiana.
